Overview

Genesee Community Services is a team of passionate and creative individuals committed to making a difference in the lives of those we serve.  As a Social Media Intern, you will will be responsible for developing and maintaining GCS’s online community. Under the supervision of the HR Manager, the intern will maintain GCS’s presence on various social media platforms and help create and publish content that is relevant to our clients and employees.

 

 

Position Overview

  • Paid Internship
  • 10-15 hours per week
  • Most of the work can be done remotely once fully trained

Responsibilities

  • Create company Facebook page, including graphics and content.
  • Create other social media accounts for GCS, including, but not limited to Instagram, Snapchat and LinkedIn.
  • Collaborate with management team to curate content appropriate for posting to various social media.
  • Perform research to find articles, stories, resources other relevant content and submit to management for approval to post to social networks.
  • Develop content calendars on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Update social media accounts regularly with current and relevant photos, video or other content from GCS activities and events.
  • Post news and announcements in a timely manner.
  • Post and interact with local or relevant organizations and interest groups.
  • Respond to posts or comments to bring value to user’s interactions with GCS and create visibility.
  • Grow GCS’s online social network by increasing followers and interactions.
  • Use Facebook Insights to assess trends and activity on the GCS Facebook page.
  • Create Facebook and Instagram ads to target markets and closely monitor ad conversions, including but not limited to creating and running A/B split Facebook ads to determine reach and conversion rates.
  • Review data on performance of social media platforms and adjusts plans or strategies to optimize reach
  • Completes other projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be a currently enrolled junior or senior in an accredited college program for digital media, communications, marketing or similar program.
  • Creative self-starter who is comfortable both taking initiative and working in collaboration with a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • In-depth experience with mainstream social media platforms, including but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and LinkedIn, including ad development, analytics, and building engagement.
  • Demonstrates good judgment and an ability to make quick decisions and solve problems.
  • Ability to read, speak, write, and understand English.
  • Ability to multitask and flexibility for changes in priorities.
  • Must have access to a computer and Internet service.
  • Must be able to work independently from home and travel to home office for meetings as necessary
  • Fast pace changing work environment.
  • May involve multi-step tasks and simultaneous projects.
  • May be noisy and student behavior can be offensive or obscene.
  • No reasonably anticipated exposure to hazardous equipment, assorted chemicals, gases, vapors, or other pollutants.
  • Position requires the use of typical office machines, audio-visual equipment and some medical/personal protective equipment.
