  • Overview

    The HR Manager will be responsible for all HR related activities including recruitment and retention, on-boarding, training, employee relations, complaint resolution, performance management, and policy development. This position will be responsible for two of ORP Management’s Operating Units: The Richardson School and Genesee Community Services.

    The Richardson School provides a year-round school option for local districts to access for children with special needs. Typically, these children have been dual diagnosed with developmental or neurological disabilities and emotional, behavioral or mental health disorders. The Richardson School serves children with a range of intellectual disabilities, including those who are non-verbal. We serve children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, Asperger’s syndrome, pervasive developmental disorders, learning disabilities, neurological impairments, behavioral disorders, speech and language impairments, genetic disorders, seizure disorders and other neurological disabilities.


    Genesee Community Services provides community-based services for children and adolescents. Our array of in-home services are tailored to the needs of each child and targets a range of skill areas such as communication, social skills, self-care, and motor-development.


    • Provides direction, coaching and support to leaders regarding employee relations matters, including ADA, attendance, performance, corrective action, and termination: and ensures actions taken are appropriate, consistent and in accordance with company policy and applicable employment law.
    • Establishes and maintains collaborative partnerships with Operations and HR to meet or exceed HR goals and objectives.
    • Hires, evaluates and supports direct reports. Provides orientation and training on recruitment strategies and other human resources topics to achieve business objectives and promote team environment.
    • Participates in workforce planning initiatives, identifying current and future gaps based on company growth expectations. Provides hands-on understanding of the recruitment function, organizational structure, positional placement and compensation program.
    • Conducts a continuous study of internal processes and methods. Provides feedback to leadership team and makes recommendations regarding process improvements.
    • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility in actions: provides input to development and manages the allocated budget; holds staff accountable for efficient use of resources; ensures own and staff’s expenses are submitted timely.
    • Remains aware of current trends in human resources; attends conferences, workshops and other training as needed and shares this new information with department.


    • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field, Master’s degree preferred. PHR/SPHR or SHRM certification preferred.
    • Requires minimum of 5 years of experience in most of the following HR disciplines: recruitment, retention, on-boarding, performance management, affirmative action, equal opportunity employment, training, employee handbook, policy development and relations.
    • One year of supervisory experience preferred.
    • Ability to work under tight deadlines, exercise good judgement, and effectively solve problems.
    • Requires exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communications, negotiating and conflict resolutions skills.
    • Remains calm under pressure and maintains self-composure/self-control in times of high stress.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
